Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: 4 October 2026
We want everyone to be able to use bigfivegroup.africa, whatever device, browser, language or assistive technology they use. This statement covers the public website at bigfivegroup.africa.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We believe the site partly meets that target today: the web pages we test pass our checks, and the remaining gaps (mainly two third-party research PDFs) are listed below.
What we have done
- A “Skip to main content” link, visible keyboard focus, and menus that work with the keyboard.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Colour contrast checked against the AA ratios for text and controls.
- Motion respects your device's “reduce motion” setting, and the home page slideshow has a pause button and pauses on hover and keyboard focus.
- Pages set their language, and the Arabic pages read right to left.
- Pages reflow on small screens and can be zoomed to 200% without losing content.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap, and the fixed header never covers the control that has keyboard focus.
Known limitations
- Translations are pending native review. The French, Arabic, Portuguese, Swahili and isiZulu versions of the home, Foods, Waters, About and Contact pages are machine translations that have not yet been reviewed by native speakers, so some wording may be unclear. Other pages are in English only, and translated menus mark those links as English.
- Two research PDFs are not fully accessible. The two published research papers are the publishers' own files. They have some tagging, but they do not pass a PDF/UA check (some fonts are not embedded, and some tables, links and images are not fully described), and one sets the wrong document language. Ask us for an accessible version and we will help. Our own documents (the company profile, the founder CV and The Super-Cube® Leadership Model) are tagged PDFs with headings, reading order, alternative text for images, a title and the language set, and they pass the PDF/UA-1 check in the free veraPDF validator.
- Third-party content. Embedded videos (YouTube, Vimeo) and the SupplierAdvisor® ordering platform are provided by others. Their captions, controls and accessibility are outside our direct control.
How we tested
This statement is based on our own testing. Automated axe-core checks against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules on the home, Foods, Waters, About, Who we help, Group, Contact and Accessibility pages and on translated pages, on desktop and mobile, found no failures. We also checked colour contrast over images and gradients, keyboard focus, zoom and small screens by hand. The site has not yet been independently audited.
